Have you ever heard of a ‘First Look’ photo shoot before your ceremony? If you haven’t, by the end of this blog you will know exactly what it is, and how you can benefit from having one!

Santorini has become one of the most sought after wedding destinations in the world, and everyone wants their photos overlooking a spectacular Caldera or next to the iconic blue domes, who wouldn’t want this?

What can only be described as a whirlwind of emotions, your wedding day is a special occasion and every moment should be cherished and remembered not only by your guests, but more importantly by you and your partner.

Your wedding day is the culmination of planning that can take months, even years in the making and squeezing everything into one day and maximising the time you have is a fine art, this where effective planning and coordination is essential, however, keeping an open mind to traditions can play a huge part on your wedding day timeline.

Would you be surprised if I told you that a significant amount of wedding couples leave their expensive wedding venue and to have a photo shoot at some of these iconic locations, of course your guests have remained behind to socialise without you. You may then return shortly before the reception is about to start meaning you have actually missed on on the quality time that should really be spent with your friends and family.

Time is a premium but you can make it work to your advantage if you have an open mind, and this is exactly what Luke and Laura chose to do on their wedding day. Luke and Laura chose to opt for ‘Pre-wedding Ceremony Reveal’ or ‘First Look’.

On a classically white rooftop overlooking one of the greatest wonders of the world was Luke, waiting in anticipation to see his beautiful wife to be for the first time in her wedding dress. From a distance Laura could see her future husband waiting and slowly she began to approach him. No guests, no family, this was their moment, their butterflies, their excitement, their beginning…… the walk, the wait, the tap on the shoulder, the rush of excitement, the turn, the first look between two people very much in love was incredible and the next hour was theirs and theirs alone, capturing raw emotion between a devoted couple in one of the most romantic locations in the world.

This is a time where you can both be together without interruption, because as the day unfolds everyone will want a piece of your attention, and it can be very easy for the day to become a blur, you need to absorb everything, but it does not need to be rushed or overpowering.

After your ‘First Look’ pre-wedding ceremony photoshoot, you get to do it all again with your friends and family there, those emotions from earlier have not gone, you just get to experience it all again.

Take a look at the photo album from Luke and Laura’s special day at le Ciel in Santorini, look at photos taken during their ‘First Look’ then look at the photos taken with all of their guests, the smiles, the hugs, the laughter and the love. This really was a perfectly planned day where the couple maximised the time they had together and with their friends and family.

I want to wish Luke and Laura all the love and happiness for their future together and thank you to Nathan Wyatt for such beautiful photos.
